The sports world is grieving after the tragic death of Jeff Sperbeck, longtime agent and business partner of NFL legend John Elway, who passed away at age 62 following a horrific golf cart accident in California.

The incident occurred as the two were leaving a Stagecoach Festival after-party with their wives on Saturday evening. Elway was reportedly driving the cart when Sperbeck, who was sitting on the back, fell off, hit his head on the asphalt, and suffered a traumatic brain injury.

Despite immediate medical attention and being placed on life support, Sperbeck succumbed to his injuries early Wednesday morning.

💔 “It was so sad, and our hearts go out to the families,” said a witness, describing the chaotic and heartbreaking scene. Elway himself reportedly called 911 as emergency services rushed to the Madison Club in La Quinta, where the accident happened.

Though police were not initially called, the Riverside County Sheriff's Office has since opened an investigation into the incident. Authorities emphasized that Elway is not suspected of wrongdoing, and no negligent behavior has been reported.

🕊️ Sperbeck, a pillar in the NFL community, had been Elway’s manager since 1990 and later co-founded the successful wine brand 7Cellars with the Hall of Fame quarterback. Over his 30-year career, he represented over 100 NFL players and helped shape the business side of the sport through Rep 1 Sports and its merger with Novo.
